Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Croatia H.E. Ilir Melo gave a lecture at the Jean Monnet Module of Europeanization and the Western Balkans on Monday, May 25, 2015.
The ambassador explained to graduate students of political science Stabilisation and Association Process in Albania and its path towards European integration, cooperation with countries in the region, with emphasis on Croatia the youngest member of the European Union. Mr Melo also commented the current developments in the south of Macedonia, media coverage of “Greater Albania” and protection of the rights of the Albanian minority in Serbia and Montenegro.
Ambassador Melo stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation between Croatia and Albania in strategic projects and within the framework of regional initiatives, primarily through the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian region and the Adriatic-Ionian transnational cooperation program.
The integration of the Albanian national minority in the socio-economic life of the Republic of Croatia stressed the importance of establishing relationships at the local level and partnerships on projects, emphasized the ambassador.
